Common questions

How do I add a friend?

Open Friends and tap Invite a friend to share your link. You can also scan their QR code. Once the friend request is accepted, you can send postcards to each other.

Your username is not your real name and is not looked up in Contacts. You can add a profile picture so friends recognise you.

Why isn’t a postcard on my lock screen?

Update and open Magic Postcard on both phones, check your internet connection and make sure the friend request was accepted. Enable Live Activities for Magic Postcard in iPhone Settings.

iOS controls background delivery. A successful send does not guarantee the other person has seen it. Postcards are silent, and the lock screen version may look less sharp or smooth than playback in the app.

Can someone try a postcard without the full app?

Version 1.3 introduces Send to someone new. The shared link opens an App Clip where the recipient signs in with Apple, receives that postcard on their lock screen and can send one reply. They then get the full app to keep messaging.

This requires version 1.3 or later and an available App Clip experience. With older versions, share a normal friend invitation instead.

How do I keep access to my account?

Connect Sign in with Apple in Account recovery. This keeps your existing username, friends and postcards on the same account and gives you a way to sign back in.

If you continue without sign-in, a username alone cannot recover your account. Apple sign-in is optional in the full app and required in the App Clip.

Where are my postcards saved?

Gallery shows sent and received postcards. New cloud originals download when needed, with a bounded local cache. Failed sends and older local-only originals may remain on your phone, so clearing app data can lose those copies. Magic Postcard does not automatically save to Photos.

If a send fails, open it in Gallery and use Retry. Retrying a send whose delivery could not be confirmed may send it again.

How do I remove a postcard?

For a received cloud postcard, Remove from Gallery hides it from your account. For one you sent, Delete postcard permanently removes the cloud original and stops new downloads. Already downloaded copies and lock screen cards cannot be recalled.

Deleting an older local-only video may remove its only copy. See the privacy policy for storage and retention details.

How do I block or report someone?

Open the person’s options in Friends to remove, block or report them. A report also blocks that connection once the server accepts it. You can email Jacob about harassment, inappropriate content or any other safety concern.

For immediate danger, contact local emergency services rather than relying on app reporting.

How do I delete my account?

Open the settings in Friends, then Privacy & Account and Delete account. Confirm the deletion. If a network or server step fails, use Continue account deletion in the same screen.

Uninstalling the app does not delete server-side account data. Other people’s independently saved copies cannot be recalled. For help or an additional data request, email Jacob using the address above.
